"De-Fense! De-Fense!" For many March Madness fans, the chant will take on a whole new meaning. Clinics around the U.S. show a 50% uptick in the number of March Vasectomies, conveniently timed to line with the 68-team basketball tourney.
Although the American Urological Association has no comprehensive data showing a link between March Madness and Vasectomies performed, plenty of anecdotal evidence points to a connection.
Dr. Ed Sabanegh of the Department of Urology at the Cleveland Clinic told CNN, ""A lot of patients come in and say, 'I have to have this during March Madness, you have to talk to my wife about it. Tell her what my limitations are and that I need to be on the couch.'"
Some patients even come in sporting the jerseys of their favorite teams. They leave the procedure committed to a thorough rest and recovery period.
