Former President George H.W. Bush celebrated his 90th birthday on Thursday by participating in a tandem sky dive near his summer home in Maine, keeping his word from a vow he made five years ago.
Even though Bush can no longer use his legs, nothing was stopping him from jumping from a helicopter at 6,000 feet using the help of Sgt. First Class Mike Elliot. Elliot is a retired member of the Golden Knights, the army’s parachute team.
A helicopter picked Bush up from the family home on Thursday, and with his family helping him from his wheelchair to the chopper, he was serenaded with a rendition of “Happy Birthday”.
Elliot helped Bush complete his eighth successful sky dive.
