Winter Festival 2014
at the Wildlife Science Center
Don't let the polar vortex bring you down! Bundle up this Sunday, March 2nd, 11:00-4:00, and join the wolves, mountain lions and sled dogs for a day of fun in the snow. Meet some mushers and their dogs up close, learn about the equipment it takes to participate in this fun winter sport, and listen to entertaining and moving tales from the trails!
Near Forest Lake in Columbus, MN
Gates open at 11:00, $8 for adults and $6 for kids, take your time strolling among the wildlife and see how well adapted they are to this cold winter!
11:30-Musher and educator Scott Miller takes you on a trip down memory lane as he tells of time spent aboard a dog sled.
12:30-WSC's birds of prey
1:30-Compare and contrast our family dogs to their ancestor the wolf.
2:30-Musher Sandy Hagan tells about the different breeds of dogs used for pulling sleds through out history as well as the purpose for this activity.
Don't miss a chance to take your very own ride on a dogsled while visiting!
Sled rides 11:30am-3:30pm; $8 per person fee will be charged.
There will be warm food, warm drinks and sweets available for sale.
