Make It Through Monday - Not afraid of power tools

I was raised  to be able to hold my own and I think that started when I was just a little girl.  I was never afraid to get dirty or of hard work.  My Dad and his three brothers own a trucking company and I have very vivid memories of going to his shop as a little girl and spending so much time there.  My brother and I would run around like we owned the joint getting into anything and everything.  We'd roll around on creepers, crawl through tires and come home just filthy.  It was the most amazing time and created memories I'll carry with me forever.

I'm so grateful to my parents for raising me to not be afraid of hard work or to get a little dirty.  Don't get me wrong I like to dress nice and wear make-up but I can get into the dirt and put in the work with the best of them.  I think people are often surprised at how hard I work and the effort I put into everything I do.  That quality was definitely learned from my parents and I will be forever grateful.

Although I don't get to my Dad's work as often now that I'm older with my busy schedule but I was just there this weekend working on a little project that involved power tools!  Here's my Make It Through Monday Moment powered by Winkie's in Whitefish Bay

Ok so I know you're thinking I'm a bit of a dork but that's ok.  I'm fully aware of that by now!  :)

Even though drilling those holes was a simple task, not everyone could or would think of doing that by themselves.  I'm grateful to have a Dad who isn't afraid to show me how to work with power tools.  It was just my brother and I growing up and everything he did I did too.  My parents never made me feel like I couldn't do something because I was a girl and everything we wanted to learn how to do, they showed us.  I spent many days as a child, and still do today, helping my Dad fix things or being there to pass him tools, etc.  That's made me who I am today and I can't thank my parents enough.

Winkie's in Whitefish Bay is also a family run business and I'm sure the generations of kids have had a very similar experience of going to work with their Dads.  Although I'm guessing they don't come home quite as dirty as I did.  Being a family run business is one thing I love the most about Winkie's.  They care so much about their business and their customers.  You heard John mention, although he doesn't recommend it, if you're a little behind this holiday season and need a little help with gifts, decorations, cards & wrapping paper, just head into Winkie's and they'll be there to help you!  They're right on the corner of Lake Drive and Silver Spring in Whitefish Bay.  They even have a parking lot so parking is super easy!  Enjoy your shopping!  I know I always do!
