LIST: 50 things restaurants don't want you to know

I don't eat out tons as my husband Jaime is an incredible cook but every now and again I enjoy going to a restaurant. They can be so expensive though! That's one reason I pack a lunch pretty much every day for work. You also don't know what's really going into your food. If you dine out often it's a good idea to know that each restaurant has things they just don't want you to know. MSN.com posted a list of 50 things popular restaurant chains don't want you to know so I chose some I thought were most important and shared them below. The complete list can be found here.

  1. Menus are designed to make you spend more
  2. The specials might not be the freshest
  3. Salads can be some of the least healthy menu items
  4. It's best to eat out on Thursdays
  5. You might want to avoid the drink garnishes
  6. The plastic trays are dirtier than you think
  7. Restaurants might use the five-second rule
  8. Politeness goes a long way
  9. You should always double-check the bill
  10. If you don't like something you can send it back
