The Legend of Georgia McBride at The Milwaukee Rep - Win Tickets!

Every time I go to the theater I'm reminded of how much I love it and want to go more. I don't think I've ever really seen a show I didn't enjoy! Recently I saw The Milwaukee Rep presents "The Legend of Georgia McBride" at Quadracci Powerhouse and I loved it! It's not a show I would normally have on my must see list, mainly because I'm usually drawn to the classics, but I'm so glad I saw it as I really enjoyed it. Without giving too much away it's about a guy who's an Elvis impersonator in a bar but loses his job when the owner hires a drag show to draw in more customers. He's then left with the decision to stay on board and join the show or walk away jobless. If you want to read more about the show click here.

I had heard the show was funny but I actually thought it was hilarious. I spent most of the night laughing at the lines, actions of the characters, etc. When you see it you'll really want to pay attention as they sneak in so many hilarious one liners you won't want to miss any of them. Not only was it funny but I thought they did a nice job with the story line. They were able to get the heartwarming message across without having to go super deep. I left the Quadracci Powerhouse with a smile on my face recapping with my Mom all my favorite moments on the drive home.

The actors in "The Legend of Georgia McBride" were fantastic too. They played their parts so well and really embodied their characters that during most of it you forgot you were actually at the theater still. They were all so good I couldn't event pick a favorite. Their facial expressions and movements were just so fitting and they each had a characteristic that I just loved. The songs were perfect. A few I hadn't heard in a while and others that I've always loved, made me want to sing and dance along. During a lot of the music and dancing scenes the audience was able to join in and participate a bit which is always nice to feel engaged in the show. Of course in Quadracci Powerhouse there's not a bad seat in the house either. It's a space that's a bit more intimate so you can really see facials expressions and feel involved in the show but just big enough that you're still able to hide away and get lost in the show.

All in all I thought The Milwaukee Rep's production of "The Legend of Georgia McBride" was a fantastic show and I would recommend it to anyone. Don't wait to see it though as it only runs through February 9, 2020. Click here to purchase your tickets! I'm actually giving you the chance to win tickets too all week around 3:30pm on 95.7 BIG FM. If you're not able to make it to this show, The Milwaukee Rep has lots of great shows left in the season too. Check those out here!
