Again this season, my mom (pictured below) is sharing her favorite recipes on my blog. Her Christmas toffee is one of the first treats I sample each year. Crunchy, chocolatey, nutty! Mmm, good stuff.
Scroll down on this entry to see the directions that mom got from a long-ago cookbook. You'll see it's been "in the mix" for years. If you need help reading the last part, it says:
... stirring occasionally to 290 degrees on a candy thermometer or until a little bit of mixture dropped in cold water becomes very brittle. Then, add 1 cup of walnuts.
Also, mom says to let the mixture cool before breaking it up into single-serving pieces for your cookie platters.
