How to Wash "Dry-Clean Only" Clothes at Home

If you have a lot of clothes that require dry cleaning, then you've probably had a hard time lately getting them cleaned.

Luckily, Lifehacker has revealed some ways you can clean those items safely. Often times a "dry clean only" tag isn't totally accurate, says expert Steve Boorstein, who says they can often be hand-washed.

To hand wash, use a sink or tub with a stopper and fill it. Then use a gentle soap like dish soap, not detergent. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to act as an agitator. Get in there and start churning, squishing and squeezing until everything gets really soapy, then rinse in clean water, and hang dry. If you have a wash machine with an "express" setting, you can use that as well. First place your clothes in a mesh bag, and again, use a gentle soap, then run on the "express" setting. Hang dry and use a steamer to remove wrinkles.

Another option is a home dry cleaning kit, which are really better for "freshening" rather than deep cleaning.
