For the first time in 98 years, the Chicago River will host an open water swim on Sept. 21.
500 swimmers will race one- or two-mile courses from the Dearborn Street Bridge to the Clark Street Bridge, followed by a festival on the Riverwalk.
The event marks a milestone in the river’s decades-long cleanup — a transformation Mayor Brandon Johnson calls “a major victory for our city.”
