Do you have a favorite place to walk?

While there are a handful of picturesque trails scattered throughout Minnesota, only one is revered as the best place to hike.

Be it beautiful lake views, a glimpse at a glowing sunset sinking below a distant mountain range, or a birds-eye view of the sunrise making the dew painted on the leaves of a hundred trees sparkle around you, something about this trail sets it apart from the rest, so much so, that it's become a Minnesota recommendation.

Some trails are traversed for their history, while others are admired for their peaceful lack of crowds. Regardless of why you choose to hike a trail, there is one glorious Minnesota gem you must add to your list!

According to a list compiled by Backpacker Magazine, the best hike in Minnesota is the 310-mile Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota's arrowhead region.

Here's what Backpacker Magazine (via hiker Melanie Radzicki McManus) had to say about the absolute best place to hike in the state:

"Thankfully, the trail’s brutal elevation changes (over 60,000 vertical feet) are overshadowed by its beauty. Think eye-popping views of Lake Superior, a vast, sapphire blanket that melts into the horizon; stately stands of oak, aspen, spruce, and birch; terrain that’s covered in colorful wildflowers in spring, then fiery red and orange foliage come fall. There are fun surprises, too, like the popular swinging bridge in Jay Cooke State Park and the Drainpipe, a 150-foot-long scramble through a rocky crevice in Tettegouche State Park. Like the Appalachian Trail, the SHT is dotted with established campsites and numerous trailheads, making it easy to access. Local shuttle services assist with hikes of any length, and the North Shore towns make it simple to resupply."
