On April 9, 1983 David Copperfield cemented himself as perhaps the greatest magician/illusionist of all time when he performed a stunning illusion of making Lady Liberty disappear.
The illusion has since been explained on the internet but in this 2010 video, Copperfield recounts the night it happened and even describes being nervous. He says, "Right about now I'm thinking, I hope this works."
David Copperfield has since become a household name. As recently as 2015 he was 20th on Forbes' Highest Earning Celebrities.
Even knowing that everything he does is an illusion, it's amazing how skillfully he performs each one.
